ORLANDO (May 12, 2021) ” Growing Bolder, a major media producer and worldwide leader in rebranding aging, announced today a new Growing Bolder channel on Twitch, the top live-streaming platform. The channel will promote the importance and power of intergenerational connection by bringing together younger and older creators to discuss their shared passions, including gaming, music, social issues, crafting, cooking, running and other common interests.

To kick off the new initiative, Growing Bolder will debut BolderX I-Gen Among Us Tournament on June 10 at 1 p.m. Matt Heafy, a popular Twitch streamer and lead singer of the Grammy-nominated metal band, Trivium, will help host the event. The tournament will stream live from the Full Sail University Orlando Health Fortress, the largest collegiate esports arena in the country, as well as stream live from homes across America.
In addition to popular video games, such as “Among Us,” the Growing Bolder channel on Twitch will feature a variety of entertainment designed to expose older adults to the many social, health and educational benefits of streaming. The new channel will include:

“Intergenerational relationships are incredibly valuable to all involved,” said Growing Bolder CEO Marc Middleton. “The Twitch platform provides a unique, powerful opportunity for multiple generations to come together and learn from one another.”
Middleton, an Emmy Award-winning broadcaster, and Heafy, whose Twitch channel boasts almost 4 million views, will serve as hosts and color commentators. Each of the 10 tournament teams will include two people: one over 50 years old and one younger. The winning team will win a prize package that includes a limited-edition guitar, gaming chair, trip and more.
Besides socialization, medical experts say older people derive other benefits from gaming, including better brain health, emotional wellbeing and improved physical performance. Some older players have become online stars. A Virginia grandmother, who has 700,000 followers, was honored by having a game character named after her.
Growing Bolder executives have taken note and believe the tournament and new channel offer lots of opportunities in an industry expected to hit $1.8 billion in revenue by 2022.
